[Sturge-Weber disease in a child].

چکیده

Sturge Weber Disease is one of the important neurocutaneous syndrome characterized by abnormities of both the integument and central nervous system. We present here a classical case of Sturge Weber Disease. This 16 month male child had facial angioma and seizures. CT Scan head was consistent with the diagnosis.

The CT and MR features of cortical calcification and meningeal angiomatosis are typical of Sturge-Weber-Dimitri disease but are unusual in children less than 1 year of age. This case describes a child presenting with both of these features bilaterally in the neonatal period and represents an unusual presentation of this disorder.

Recurrent sepsis and gastrointestinal ulceration due to child abuse.

An 11 year old girl developed progressive upper gastrointestinal ulceration and recurrent episodes of intravenous catheter associated polymicrobial septicaemia. Evaluation failed to establish a cause. After exclusion of the parents and careful surveillance of the patient she improved, supporting the diagnosis of suspected child abuse (a form of Meadow's syndrome).

Chronic granulomatous disease and McLeod syndrome in a black child.

A 3-year-old black male child with X-linked chronic granulomatous disease and red cells of the rare McLeod phenotype is presented. The red cells showed acanthocytosis and did not react with anti-KL. Similarly the leukocytes were nonreactive with anti-Kx. The Xk and Xg linkage could not be investigated since all members of his family were Xg (a+).
